Equine Community Resources
Helping people and their horses live happy healthy lives together

About Us

Equine Community Resources (ECR) was founded in 2013. Initially, ECR was  the Central Oregon affiliate of Sound Equine Options (SEO), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the Portland, Oregon area. In May of 2016 Equine Community Resources became their own 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Our Mission:   Enrich equine wellness through counseling and support services, promoting responsible ownership through education, and the sharing of resources from the equine community.

ECR is a needs based service organization committed to helping local horse owners experiencing personal or short-term financial difficulties in caring for their horses. ECR also offers low-cost gelding and teeth-floating clinics throughout the year to assist with promoting equine health and stewardship.

How to Help

There are many ways to get involved and help save a horse’s life, or to help the equine owner during challenging times. We are a community, an equine community, working together to make a difference.

We are constantly looking to expand our network of foster and adoptive homes through local re-home/rehab facilities. These are among our most crucial resources in removing horses from dangerous or neglectful situations.

In addition to equine homes, we always welcome monetary donations. ECR relies on private donations in order to improve horses’ lives through veterinary care, proper feed, farrier care, education, training, and clinics.

If you would like to get involved, please consider any of the following:

 Apply to be a volunteer

Make a cash or in-kind donation to ECR

Practice and encourage responsible horse ownership

Donate your used tack or blankets
